Self-building
Documents required for a self-build
Thinking about a self-build but not sure where to start? Putting together a solid file with the right documents—that will be useful to both you and us—will give you a clearer overall picture of your project and allow us to prepare your financing application.
Evaluating a project
First of all, the following documents are needed to assess your project:
- construction plans,
- cost breakdown (backed by contractor quotes),
- land purchase offer (or deed of sale if the land is already yours).
Financing
Next, the following documents are required to analyze your financing application:
- your notice of assessment for the past two years,
- a recent pay stub,
- leases and tax statements for any income properties for the past two years, if applicable,
- account statements for investments held outside Desjardins.
Starting the work
Finally, the building permit, site plan, and construction site insurance are required before instructions can be sent to the notary.
Please note that, in certain situations, your financing application must be approved by upper management at Desjardins, which may result in additional processing time.
