Self-building

Self-building a single-family or multigenerational home does not require a license. However, for any other type of construction, the criteria outlined in this policy do not apply, as the individual is considered an owner-builder in the eyes of the law.

In these cases, a license issued by the RBQ is required. Members must contact the RBQ directly to obtain any necessary permits before breaking ground on their project.

For projects that fall outside single-family home self-builds, standard credit granting practices apply. Your project will be overseen by our dedicated business team and, where needed, supported by Desjardins Business Centres.
